How Adobe Use Social Media

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem..

Hello readers! :D

Today's post will be about an organization from the Professional Services Sector that are using social media like blog, twitter, or wiki to enhance their business and relating it with the McKinsey Value Levers. I will use Adobe as the main actor here.

Before we go further, let's have a short introduction about Adobe.
Adobe Systems, Inc. is a computer software company centered in San Jose, California, United States, and was founded in December 1982 by John Warnock and Charles Geschke. Adobe mainly provides internet application and software development products like desktop software, server software, formats, web-hosted services, web design programs, video editing and visual effects, eLearning software, organizational software, and web content management software.

Now, what relationship does Adobe have with social media usage and McKinsey value lever?

Social media can be used by the Professional Services Sector to gain communication with their clients and customers. They can make interactions by collaboration, knowledge sharing, and other communication type. Adobe, in this case, make more benefits by creating their own page in social media, which are Facebook, twitter, and blog.

BLOG
If you want to know every information about Adobe and its products, Adobe Blog may be the best social media to visit. Adobe puts the blog as a source of news and updates from the team, like the products and services, business solutions, application download, even supporting and learning. Adobe blog also has the Adobe Community Forums which gathers those who need a discussion about the products and technologies of Adobe. So, this blog provides both direct and indirect interactions between the company with Adobe users.

TWITTER
Adobe uses Twitter for sharing information and communicate with the followers. Adobe shares it by linking some news or any information from the main website or blog to their twitter account. Also, by using hashtag, Adobe communicates with the followers who want to share their insight, creation, or questions to the company.

FACEBOOK
The same purpose like twitter and blog, Adobe uses Facebook to make the Adobe users able to communicate with Adobe teams and discuss about Adobe features.  While Twitter has the Hashtag, Adobe users can "like" the Facebook fan page of Adobe and write comments on every posts. Adobe also enables Direct Messaging on their Facebook page that offers quicker responses.

Besides these three, Adobe also uses other social media, like LinkedIn, Foursquare, and Yelp.

Out of 10 value levers, Adobe will most likely suitable in the Marketing and Sales Function.
Based on what I have discussed above, Adobe uses social technology for marketing communication/interaction and as a social commerce.
Every social media that Adobe has are used for the purpose of talking, discussing, and answering questions from the Adobe users to solve their problems. Adobe creates relationship and engage with their customers in that way. Adobe also uses social media to sell and promote their products. They provide detailed description about the products and services as a consideration for the buyers before they decide to purchase. With this, the buyers will feel more comfortable and convienced to make a purchase.

In conclusion, Adobe is one of the companies in Professional Services Sector that already use social technology to help them gain more benefits and engage relationship with the customers/clients, especially on the Marketing and Sales Function of The McKinsey Value Levers.

Thank you for reading my post!
I hope you find it useful.

Cheers
Della

  1. Thanks for the interesting post. You are right, nowadays no company can afford not to get involved with social media when it comes to advertising their products and maintain a relationship with their customer. I think you have chosen an excellent example to present how large businesses use Enterprise 2.0 in practice.

  2. Hi Andella
Great post. It’s funny, even though I bump into Adobe all the time updating my software and such I never knew much about the company. I think you found a really good example of a company benefiting from using a blog. I had a look at the company blog unfortunately the comment form was closed at the moment so it wasn’t possible to see how or how much the users interacted with Adobe through blogs. Luckily Adobe also uses the Community forum, like you mentioned, which I think is perhaps even more suitable if you (as a user) want to get in touch with the company, have your saying on a specific matter or ask a technical question – whereas blogs are specifically directed towards discussing a certain topic chosen by the company. Seems like Adobe levers from several tools already but do you think they have reached their limit or do you have any specific recommendations in terms of developing their social profile even more?

    1. Hi!
Yup I know, right? Adobe keeps asking us to update but I've just found out more plus points about this company too.
About your question, I think there is one more action that Adobe could do to improve their social media. Adobe hasn't used Wiki. Although the blog has it all, but adobe may participate in Wikis in optimizing the social media usage. They even can gain more attention from the Wikis users.

  3. Your blog post is a concise and well structured read. I agree Adobe was a good pick for your topic, I never knew about their excellent practice with social media levers. I was going to ask about a community forum, but you seem to have answered that already :)

    1. Hi Alex!
Thank you so much for your comment :D
So I guess I've clearly explained how Adobe uses Social Media, is that acceptable? :)
I couldn't have done it if Adobe itself doesn't provide these information as clearly as now. You should check it out by yourself too! Adobe's social media channels are so interesting, I guarantee! :D

  4. Thanks, della. Interesting post, detailing extensive ranges of information about Adobe as an software that use social media networks. I can see in your blog how Adobe use social media networks such as blog, twitter, and facebook to increase the numbers of the Adobe users through communicate with the customers and advertise their new software and get feedback from Adobe users. I wanna ask you which of these tools do you think is more effective for Aobe?

    1. Hi Dana!
      Thanks for stopping by :D
I think the most effective social media is their blog. It has everything, from information, updates, products, and forums. Even their twitter and facebook links to it. In my opinion, since Twitter and Facebook are more often consumed, Adobe uses both social media as a bridge for people to visit their blog.

  5. Hi Della

Firstly, I really admire the way you start all your blogs. I'll be doing the same with my future posts :)

It is interesting to learn from your post how Adobe utilises social media to connect with their customers. The company’s social media engagement and practices make me think about the serious importance of social media to business. Adobe is just the perfect company to talk about when it comes to social media practices because they seem to understand and embrace enterprise 2.0. Reading your post, I can see how the company values their customer connections and engagement through social media. They go through extensive efforts to interact with their consumers and it is the best way to retain customers for long term business relations. How Adobe uses social technology as social commerce to develop favourable consumer relationships that allows them to market their products effectively is simply amazing to learn. One common thing I noticed about software companies is that they build their own community forums instead of using other social platforms like Facebook Groups to encourage discussion among their consumers. Why do you think they prefer to have their own community forums?

    1. Hi Hussain!
Well, as a moslem, everything needs to be started with basmallah, right? :D (I assume you're also moslem, since you paid attention to this :D)

In my opinion, using Adobe's own platform will be more secure and convenient to people instead of using facebook group to create a forum.
One of disadvantages of using facebook group is that there might be many spams and unrelated posting that will make the group's timeline not comfortable to be read. Although they could set the facebook group to private/closed group, this can be another disadvantage, because the admin of the group has to confirm each person who wants to join, and there must be LOTS of people who want to join.
On the other hand, using their own platform to create a forum will be more flexible in terms of monitoring and controlling it. They even can categorize topics and contents they want to put in forum. The readers will find it more comfortable, too.

  6. Hi Della, thankyou for the great post

I have been using adobe products and never actually used their blogs, twitters, and wiki. I can see that Adobe value their customer and provide various supports using web 2.0 so maybe i will see their page next time i have question about their products.
